Stress Relief Techniques
Whether you're sick or well, stress relief should be a part of your daily activity. If you want to change your life, your actions, your way of thinking or general approach to any problem, you must step back from it.
To be really effective in this initial approach, turn off your mind, relax your breathing, and meditate or pray. Switching off from the problem completely, even for a short while can help relieve stress.
Relaxing Music
Try listening to relaxing music; such as native American flute music or any type of deep relaxation music. Anything that lowers your sensory awareness and helps you feel the more relaxed. These CD's and MP3's are available to buy from most music stores or even online and are usually cheaper than traditional music genres.
Take A Break
Want stress relief? Take a break for 5 - 10 minutes. This is investing time to eventually save time, because you will get back to your daily activities smarter and with more focus. Take deep breaths (abdominally i.e. diaphragmatically), stretch up, have a glass of water, or tense your body muscles and then relax. Smalls things like this can bring your stress levels down.
Exercising
By exercising everyday you will lower your stress levels. First thing on a morning is the best time as it puts you in a good frame of mind for the day. This can be a light workout, or a more substantial workout. Whatever you choose, it will likely put you in a good stress free mood and help you face up to your days challenges.
Take A Fun Break
Breaking up the day with a few minutes of fun, here and there, can make a huge difference to how your body handles stress. When you have something to look forward to, like doing a crossword puzzle at lunch or at coffee break you are giving your mind a little relief and making your self stronger. For some, a brisk little five or ten minute walk with some soothing music on your ipod will bring relief.
Family Night Fun
Plan a fun night with your family once or twice a week. Play board games, make popcorn or sing karaoke. Singing is a great release. The idea is to toss out the worries (even if temporary) so you are better equipped to handle whatever comes your way. Taking time out with your friends and family takes you away from your worries, even for just a short time.
Dancing For Stress Relief
Dancing is a great way to relieve stress. Don't worry if you think you can't dance, just put on some music and get moving. Your body will naturally produce endorphins which will make you feel good. The kids will have a blast, and you will also burn some calories, tone your body and feel great in the process!
Vacation
Vacations are and excellent way to restore healthy balance to your over stressed body and soul. If you opt for a nice sunny location, all the better. The warmth and sunshine can help energize and rejuvenate, washing away the built up anxiety leaving you feeling refreshed and ready to tackle the world head on.
